A Dual Perspective in Law and Medicine

Grounded in an undergraduate foundation in formal logic and analytical philosophy at UNR, I spent nearly a decade gaining hands-on legal experience as a paralegal—working alongside my father in his Reno law practice, where I immersed myself in case preparation, trial strategy, and legal analysis.

Having taken the LSAT and closing in on my final semester at UNR, I was fully on track for law school when I realized my true calling was in healthcare. Pivoting toward medicine, I went on to earn my Associate and Bachelor’s Degrees in Nursing, ultimately graduating cum laude with my Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN).

My clinical journey began in 2010 as an ICU nursing assistant. I became a registered nurse in 2011, spending nine years across intensive care, emergency, perioperative, home health, and school nursing. As a board-certified nurse practitioner since 2020, I have delivered primary and acute care in diverse settings—including a VA homeless veterans clinic, community health centers, urgent care facilities, a Southern border emergency intake shelter for unaccompanied minors, and rural medicine.

That breadth of clinical experience gives me a practical, well-rounded perspective that extends far beyond a single specialty. Because I understand both bedside nursing standards and medical-provider practices, I can identify subtle issues, gaps, or inconsistencies that are easily missed when medical records are viewed through only one lens.

High Desert Medical Forensics began somewhat unexpectedly. I initially helped a few local attorneys, through a mutual friend, by answering basic medical questions about their cases. I began informally consulting in 2025 and formally opened HDMF in 2026.

As the idea developed, I remembered how challenging it had been during my paralegal years to interpret medical records and injuries for clients without a medical expert to consult. We made it work, but the fundamental challenge was obvious. Attorneys practice law; I practice medicine. What takes an experienced clinician moments to identify in a chart can take hours of unnecessary research for a legal team to decipher—diverting focus from core case preparation.

The purpose
